VET (Vocational Education and Training) provides an opportunity for senior school students to complete a TAFE certificate course as part of their VCE or VCAL program.

As part of the VCAL program, generally speaking, students commit to TAFE one day per week. VET programs are conducted off-site. This allows student to “learn by doing” which in today’s employment climate, provides a valuable asset and skill base. Within the Senior School timetable at Aitken College, VCE VET courses are offered as an alternative to ‘mainstream’ and ‘traditional’ methods of learning.  A VET study, if completed successfully, contributes to either a student’s VCE ATAR score or credits towards the completion of their VCAL program. Successful students can consider a range of options post Year 12 including; university, further TAFE study, apprenticeships or employment.
